1991 Ford Escort
With the collective efforts of Ford North America, Ford of Australia and Mazda
in Japan, in the spring of 1990, as a 1991 model, a new Ford Escort was brought
into existence. Formatted with the Mazda Protege as its model, the new Ford Escort
holds a lot of promise, it was obtainable in three body-styles, a two-door hatchback,
a four-door hatchback, and four door wagon. This period of the Escort has proven
to be the most reliable version to date. It was also sold as the Mercury Tracer
and there's even a astonishingly perky and very agile GT version.

This very dependable and trustworthy model was powered by a Ford 1.9 liter 4-cylinder
engine available on all versions, with the exception of the GT. It is a bit loud
but it has fine low end torque and the 5-speed manual transmission can achieve
an impressive 8 L/100 km in the city and 5.8 L/100 km on the highway. A 4-speed
automatic transmission is optional.
