With the collective efforts of Ford North America, Ford of Australia and Mazda in Japan, in the spring of 1990, as a 1991 model, a new Ford Escort was brought into existence. Formatted with the Mazda Protege as its model, the new Ford Escort holds a lot of promise, it was obtainable in three body-styles, a two-door hatchback, a four-door hatchback, and four door wagon.
