Ford Escort RS Turbo

Developed by Ford Special Vehicle Engineering, the first Ford Escort RS Turbo
was released in December 1984 following the success of the Escort models. This
1984 front wheel drive Escort RS Turbo was already considered a spectacular car
at that time; the 4 cylinder in-line 1600cc CVH SOHC engine was capable of delivering
132 bhp. A Garret T03 turbocharger and intercooler was fitted into the 1.6 liter
CVH engine and a gearbox was built with a viscous coupling limited-slip differential.
This made the Escort RS Turbo the foremost front wheel drive car with a limited-slip
differential.
The Ford Escort RS Turbo was available in two trims in a single color option
only?the Diamond White. Taking the Custom Package, your Escort RS Turbo will be
equipped with tilt-and slide sunroof, electric front windows, central locking
and tinted glass. This car was meant to go straight to the race tracks, and has
now become something of a legendary vintage car. Only in production for a year,
from December of 1984 to December of the following year, there were only 8064
Ford Escort RS Turbo made.
